Pastor Mike Gowon’s Book Review: AI for Beginners Demystified

Photo of Michael Gowan, who did a book review on AI for Beginners DemystifiedI never expected this book review of ‘AI for Beginners Demystified’ by Pastor Michael (Myke) Joseph Gowon from Nigeria. We became friends on Facebook in early September. Myke explained that he wanted to learn about AI, but was unable to purchase my book on Amazon. No problem. I sent him an Advance Reader Copy (.pdf). Days later, he sent me his review on Facebook. With a bit of copying and pasting, I’m using it as an article here. Myke is a man of God. I respect that very much. He’s as passionate about his beliefs as I am about AI.

Myke Gowon’s Review of AI for Beginners Demystified

Rick Samara’s AI for Beginners Demystified is more than simply another addition to the packed shelves of artificial intelligence books; it serves as a bridge between the forbidding jargon of AI and the inquisitive mind of the average learner.

Samara makes a bold promise in the first chapter: to cut through the complexity around AI and give clarity, confidence, and curiosity. He not only keeps his promise but also exceeds it. What distinguishes this work is its storytelling method.

Samara uses his skills as a U.S. Air Force Intelligence Analyst and then as an entrepreneur to transform complex AI concepts into compelling narratives. Machine learning, neural networks, and generative AI are described using human analogies—such as toddlers learning, cars avoiding crashes, or smartphones interpreting text—to help readers feel at ease in a topic generally reserved for “tech wizards.”

His sense of humor and conversational tone help to dispel the myth that AI is a secret society for professionals alone. Beyond theory, Samara provides real solutions. From presenting the AI tools we already use on a daily basis, such as chatbots, smart assistants, and recommendation engines, to demonstrating how AI is altering industries ranging from healthcare to education, the book highlights AI’s importance in both personal and professional development.

The parts on prompts, prejudice, ethics, and social media use present a balanced perspective that acknowledges AI’s concerns while underlining its enormous promise. The book’s focus on empowerment may be its most significant contribution. Samara reminds readers that curiosity, not age, is what matters. He provides newcomers with tools, communities, and certification alternatives, demonstrating how to convert acquired knowledge into opportunities.

By the end, the reader is encouraged rather than overwhelmed, viewing AI as a partner in creativity, problem solving, and future readiness. In a world where fear of automation and cynicism about technology are common, AI for Beginners Demystified provides an antidote: straightforward without being shallow, practical without being dry, and imaginative without losing balance. It is a must-read for students, professionals, company owners, and anybody interested in how AI will shape our common destiny. — Highly recommended for both beginners and lifelong learners.
